It all started in with Iron Man, an American superhero movie based on Marvel Comics which made $600 million and became the 8th highest-grossing film of 2008. This was the first film in Phase I of the MCU followed by two sequels: Iron Man 2 in 2010 grossing $624 million and Iron Man 3 in Phase II of the MCU grossing 1.2 billion worldwide; becoming the second highest-grossing movie of 2013. The MCU movies are a series of godly superheroes primarily developed and produced by Marvel Studios. All the characters and their stories are based on Marvel Comic publications. Since 2007, Marvel Studios has produced and released 23 movies by the end of 2019 thus being all-time highest-grossing franchises earning around $23 billion globally. Avengers Endgame (2019) concluded Phase III of the MCU series has won the title of the all-time highest-grossing picture. No less than 15 new movies are in the production/post-production phase.
Kevin Feige alongside others has been the producer of every film in the series. These films have been written and directed by several writers along with the Russo Brothers who wrote the conclusion of the Endgame. Most of the stars including R.D. Junior, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Natalie Portman, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Elizabeth Olsen and several new actors have signed contracts to star in several upcoming films.
As you have understood by far that the Marvel Studios releases movies in phases. Iron Man Series, Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), and Thor and The Incredible Hulk were released in phase I with the cross-over with The Avengers (2012) concluding the Phase I while the Phase II comprised of Sequels of Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America and included the Guardians of Galaxy, Ant-Man and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).
In Phase III, Captain America: Civil War was the first film to be released and was followed by another powerful character Doctor Strange (2016) premiering Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange. The same phase added Spider-Man: Homecoming, the sequel of Guardian of Galaxy, Thor: Ragnarock, Black Panther, Ant-Man, and the Wasp, Captain Marvel, Avengers: Infinity War, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and a whopping 3 hour long all time slayer, The Avengers: Endgame.
Marvel doesn’t own a license to the Spider-Man franchise and so Sony Pictures finance and distribute the films.
Phase 4 of the MCU is here!
Many films have already been announced by the Russo Brothers including, Black Widow (2020) followed by The Eternals (2021), Shang Chi and The Legend of Ten Rings (2021), another Spider-Man sequel (2021), a Thor sequel: Love and Thunder (2022), Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) and more. Marvel Studios is planning several new storylines through 2028, probably producing a variety of new films that are entirely different from The Avengers storylines and they are planning it on purpose. DC Comics is planning to up their game to challenge the fastest growing popularity of its old rival: Marvel Comics. Stan Lee has worked all his life developing and improving Marvel characters and no wonder why Stan Lee has a small cameo in practically every Marvel film even after his demise.
Here is a list of Up Coming Marvel Films as in Phase 4
The trailer of Black Widow has been released and is going to premiere in November 2020, featuring Scarlett as Natasha focusing on the early life and background of Black Widow.
Eternals are a class of most Powerful beings in the Universe, probably so strong that they can kill Thanos with just a single blow of their powerful attacks. We have seen some of these all-powerful Eternals in Comic books like Ikaris, Sersi, Kingo, Makkari, and Gilgamesh.
Shang Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings
Shang Chi is a master of martial arts will fight against Mandrian: a leader of a brutal terrorist organization with special powers.
Who doesn’t love Spider-Man? There is a lot of comic stories that Marvel can pick to produce but since it has always been difficult for Marvel to deal with Sony and Disney so we have to wait for the plot to be revealed.
Thor: Love and Thunder
Natalie Portman as Jane Foster has once again signed to work for the Thor Saga and going to be the She-Thor while some rumors suggest that Chris didn’t like the idea of losing the power of Thor to Jane in the storyline.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
The popularity of Doctor Strange has increased exponentially especially after an amazing fight between Thanos and Strange. No one knows how powerful Dr. Strange is and as the title of the film suggests the plot for the sequel is going to be amazing with never seen before CGI graphics and visuals.
It seems like that space and time have been fractured through Time or Reality stone. The trailer gives hangover since Wanda and vision are lost between past and present.
